Income Sustainability in the New Economy
In 1930, renowned economist John Maynard Keynes predicted that by 2030, technological progress and human ingenuity would allow most people to work just 15 hours a week. Yet as that date draws near, the reality looks very different. Rather than enjoying increased leisure time, a number of people are working longer hours that are often accompanied by a lower standard of living and a higher level of job insecurity.

Why has wage growth for workers remained stagnant while asset owners have seen disproportionate gains? What changed in the economic landscape that made job and financial security more elusive for many?

This session will explore the pivotal shift toward “Shareholder Primacy” in the 1970s and how it contributed to reshaping wealth distribution across a number of first world countries. More importantly, we’ll examine what this means for workers today and how we can prepare ourselves to thrive financially in an era defined by automation, artificial intelligence and rapid economic transformation.

By the end of this session, you will:
                      •  Understand the key economic forces shaping income and job security today.
                      •  Gain strategies to strengthen your career and financial resilience in times of change.
                      •  Explore how career choices and financial decisions can support long-term well-being for yourself and your loved ones.
Whether you’re planning for your own future or guiding your loved ones toward financial independence, this session is meant to offer insights for navigating the new economy with more clarity and confidence.

                      • DEVELOP: Personal development through understanding ourselves — our strengths and blindspots — in order to continue growing with clarity and purpose.

                      • CONNECT: Mastering the science and art of communicating with compassion so that we thrive in the relationships that matter.
